Sensuality and the Human Nervous System
Deliberate Orgasm Article
Can anyone have full-body orgasm?
The skin is the largest organ in the human body. It is composed of an intricate network of nerves that are all connected, making the entire epidermis a sensing organ.
Our hands, feet and genitals have more pressure-sensitive nerve endings than any other part of the human body. Each of our hands has 2,500 nerve receptors per square centimeter.

Wikipedia says "The fingertips contain some of the densest areas of nerve endings on the body, are the richest source of tactile feedback, and have the greatest positioning capability of the body; thus the sense of touch is intimately associated with hands."
The genitals have the highest concentration of pressure-sensitive nerve endings than anywhere else on the body. The clitoris has the most with over 8,000 and the penis has over 4,500.
Since the epidermis is a network of connected nerves, it is possible for the entire body to experience orgasm. Every person has the physiological capability for feeling that much.
So why don’t we do it already?
There are many ways that we limit our sensuality, and our body’s ability to feel. One of the ways is through compartmentalization.
As a baby, our body is fully able to sense and can feel all over. Rub a baby’s head and its toes will curl. However, from a very early age we learn to cut off areas of sensitivity from other areas of the body. This is when we start compartmentalizing the sensation in our bodies.
For example, one of the first things an infant learns to identify is "hot". Touch a hand on a hot stove and it gets burned. A baby would feel that burn in its hand and throughout its body. We learn to compartmentalize sensation to identify injury for survival reasons.
Over time, nerve channels that we don’t use atrophy. We no longer feel it all over our entire body, we feel sensation more localized.
The good news is there is a way to train our bodies to open up these channels of sensation once again.
Here is an exercise that is a powerful tool for waking up the nervous system and opening channels of sensation. The next time you are touching or being touched, notice where else in your body besides the point of contact you feel sensation. No matter how slight or subtle it is, notice what you feel and where you feel it. This is a seemingly simple exercise, however, through acknowledgment of what you feel, sensation can grow and expand.
One could also apply this exercise to DOing. Deliberate Orgasm uses the hands for pleasurable stimulation of the genitals, the two areas of the body that are most dense with sensory nerve endings. Imagine the possibilities! You could be touched on your genitals and feel it down to your toes...
Through our connected network of nerves, the potential is always there to feel more sensation. With training and deliberate attention, anyone can have full-body orgasm.
