This was prompted by and overlaps a post by Bill on 10/12/08, titled “Not Taking Her Over”. To avoid stepping on his questions, I am starting a new topic.

My wife and I have benefitted immensely from the DO Duet DVDs. Our sex life has never been better, and we cannot imagine how it could get any better. Our weekly lovemaking involves continuous pleasure for a period of about 2 hours, and concludes with her asking or demanding to be taken over the edge, which is always fantastic. I would like to try not taking her over the edge, as shown in the DVDs, mainly because we have been wrong in the past when we thought our sex life couldn’t get any better. She is not inclined to try this. I do not know whether to persuade her or how, because I do not know what the possibilities are.

My question is “What are the ongoing advantages/benefits/pleasures of not taking her over some/most of the time?” Specifically, I am wondering about the post-DOing feelings and attitudes of both the female and the male, day-to-day and week-to-week, etc., in terns of intimacy, loving thoughts, erotic thoughts and recollections, ease of arousal, desire to do it again, overall level of contentment, energy level, sleep soundness, etc.

I am hoping for some experience-based, comparative input about situations in which (i) the DOor and DOee are in a monogamous, loving relationship; (ii) he intensely experiences her pleasure; (iii) they are proficient in DOing, and (iv) he enjoys it, at least on a day-to-day basis, whether or not he comes.
